Songs About Buildings and Moods

  • September 10, 7 PM - Davis Theater Chicago, Illinois

Songs About Buildings and Moods features music commissioned by Access Contemporary Music over the last several years to be performed in various and sundry historical, offbeat, interesting and generally awesome spaces in Chicago as part of the Chicago Architecture Center’s Open House Chicago project.

All of the pieces will be performed live with video accompaniment showing the buildings in their glory. Videos are by Kimberly Schlechter.

This concert of American favorites brings together the works of Cristina Spinei, Aaron Copland and Philip Glass. It marks the first full line-up of American composers in the GCO’s history, featuring clarinetist Boris Allakhverdyan of the Los Angeles Philharmonic.

Nashville Public Radio's first-ever broadcast-only music festival is highlighting Nashville's classical music-makers all day today. Tune in for live performances at the start of every hour, and keep listening between those sets to hear recordings by talented Midstate soloists and ensembles. 2PM Mechanical Angels by Cristina Spinei performed by Matthew Phelps.

This concert will feature the talents and sounds of Nashville, and the programming will challenge preconceived notions of what defines “classical music.” Artistic Director Alicia Enstrom has curated a roster of local composers, each of whom will contribute an original work to the evening of music. Composers include: Cristina SpineiStephen LambTimbre CierpkeJordan LehningMatt WalkerPeter Bradley AdamsDabney Morris, and Bruce DudleyVox Grata Women’s Choir will join ALIAS as a guest performer on this concert.
